Communications & Transport:
The telephone system is modern and has all the important
capabilities needed by business. However, penetration density
is low, with only 4 landlines per 100 people.
There is a good system composed of open-wire lines, cables,
and microwave radio relay links. The national service is nearly
all digital with fibre-optic links, and main switching centres
in Casablanca and Rabat.
The Internet is available, but expensive compared to the
UK. There are 1.4 million landlines, 16 million mobile phones
and more than 5 million Internet users.
The main roads linking the major centres of population are
generally of a good standard.
