Security Information Service for Business Overseas

Welcome to SISBO

The Security Information Service for Business Overseas (SISBO) exists to enable Government and the private sector to pool their understanding of the overseas business environment.

SISBO is a not-for-profit partnership arrangement facilitated by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). It is based in FCO premises, with a designated SISBO Co-ordinator in almost every UK Embassy overseas. SISBO complements the FCO's own work in support of UK exporters, and has links to a number of private-sector business associations.

SISBO has until now provided four main services:

• This website, as a one-stop shop for entry-level commercially-focused briefing on foreign countries, and as a channel to trade officials abroad.
• An email enquiry service for UK-linked companies with overseas interests.
  
• Periodic seminars and conferences on topics of interest to businesses.
• An innovative service of strategic reports on a wide range of overseas issues. These are written by private-sector business risk experts but draw on the full range of Government information not available from other sources. Known as 'SisboPlus' and originally designed as a subscription service, it is now being made available at no charge, for a trial period, thanks to recent funding from the Home Office.
