Overview:
The UK has traditionally traded with its European partners
for centuries and now with the membership of the EU these
trading ties are now stronger. However, within the last decade
the collapse of communist Europe has meant wider trading opportunities,
but not always without cost.
The emerging eastern block countries have mixed fortunes
- some have been admitted to the EU while others await. Currently
the most prosperous European countries have actually seen
an influx of workers/refugees across their borders, but UK
businesses are starting to establish themselves where opportunity
arises.
In many of these countries political and economic stability
is a problem, as has been the rise of organised crime and
corruption in the form of drugs trafficking, people trafficking
and racketeering.
